Martin applies his passion for lighting design exclusively through his own company, Klaasen Lighting Design (KLD), with its head office in Singapore. His expertise and experience span all applications, with projects around the globe. Martin is widely respected by his peers in the industry. Several of his projects have received international lighting design awards and his projects have featured in industry magazines around the world.

More recently Martin and his son Ingmar Klaasen, have set up a new exciting venture called Lighting Design of Things (LDoT). The new start up fills a gap in the industry to provide professional consultancy to facilitate the integration of smart data analytics systems within the lighting infra-structure. Several pilot projects with key industry players are already ongoing.

Martin is also passionate about sharing his knowledge by educating his clients and the public through his public appearances at major events around the world and his many articles in the media. His “Light Talk” platform featuring his blogs, vlogs and most recently the “Light Talk Podcast” through all social media streams enjoys a fervent and worldwide group of followers. Martin’s first year of blogging was compiled into a book of the same name. It was followed by Light Talk 2, his second book, a collection of his articles about lighting and lighting design as published in Lighting Today Magazine over the last 16 years.

His passion of sharing knowledge by educating and mentoring the new generation of lighting designers has led to the creation of his latest venture, the Virtual Lighting Design Community, a virtual lighting education platform that brings all lighting industry players and stakeholders together in one community.
