Elham Souri

Holding a PhD in Urban Design, she combines research, design and technical expertise to create lighting that enhances architecture, supports human experience and responds to the wider urban context. She is a registered member of the Architektenkammer Baden-Württemberg (AKBW).

Based in Germany, Elham is currently a Project Manager and Lighting Designer at ibb Burrer & Deuring Ingenieurbüro, where she leads complex lighting projects and develops internal educational programmes to strengthen collaboration between lighting designers and electrical engineers. Previously, she spent six years at Belzner Holmes Light-Design Engineering, contributing to internationally recognised projects including the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, the Louvre Abu Dhabi Children’s Museum, the Gutenberg Museum, the Ephesus Experience Museum, and numerous museums, exhibitions and urban lighting masterplans.

Earlier in her career, Elham served on Tehran’s Light Committee and directed the scientific programme of the Iran Lighting Design Conference (ILDC) for three consecutive editions. Alongside professional practice, she has remained committed to education, interdisciplinary collaboration and the advancement of the lighting profession.

As a mentor, Elham is passionate about helping emerging lighting professionals bridge the gap between theory and practice, build confidence, and develop a holistic approach to lighting that integrates creativity, technology and human-centred design.
