Diana Galic, M. Light Design, M. Econ. Diana Galic is a light designer with more than 18 years of practice in light design.

Currently she is a PhD student at Doctoral School of the University of Osijek, Croatia, in the area of light design within multidisciplinary study of culture and art. Diana holds a Diploma in Master studies of Light design gained at Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, as well as Diploma in Master study in Economics in the filed of Cybernetics.

She is a principal light designer and co-owner of a company Nova-lux founded before 18 years with her husband Zlatko, who is Master in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and on that way they are combining creative approach with technical proficiency. Their team of 12 people are working internationally on many projects in Qatar, Oman, Canada, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium etc.

Diana is an expert in architectural light design of ancient city cores and heritage sites (which is also the topic of her dissertation), but she is also well experienced in light design of stadiums and arenas, shopping malls, hotels, decorative lighting of bridges, city squares, landscape lighting etc. She is also experienced in product design of light fixtures (for both interior and exterior lighting). Her creative artistic light installations integrates natural elements like wind, waves and sounds with light.

Why Did You Want To Be A Silhouette Awards Mentor?

With the experience of 27 years overall behind me, from which 18 years as a principal light designer, I have passed through many hard lectures which was not able to be gained through school learning or courses. If I would have a person which I could ask or just talk about problems I am facing, I think that my business path will be much easier and a higher level of inventions and creativity will be integrated within my projects. As a Mentor, I would like to offer that kind of help to the next generation of our light professionals and to share my knowledge and experience in the area of light design.

During my professional practice, I was engaged also as a consultant on many projects in which I was able to recognize good and bad approach to many projects and problems, since I have passed all various ways by myself or by my employees.

Moreover, in the area of lighting science, where I see many challenges and uncovered secrets. The essential purpose to integrate practical knowledge with the interdisciplinary scientific research in the area of light and lighting may accelerate the lighting industry development and make it more beneficial to human health and environment protection in the future, in which I see also my contribution in the future.
