Ifthikhar Ilyas

Ifthikhar is Managing Director and Principle Designer at LITELAB, based in India.
After graduating from the School of Architecture in Chennai, India, and completing his training at A49 Architects Studio in Bangkok, Thailand, he pursued a Master’s in Interior Design at NABA, Milan, Italy. During his time there, an elective in lighting design sparked his passion for light as a transformative element in architecture.
His lighting design career began with an internship at LITELAB in Milan. Upon returning to India, he worked with PHILIPS as an Associate Designer and later joined LightAngle Light Planning, where he deepened his expertise. These roles, along with his international education and exposure, shaped a design approach rooted in cultural awareness, aesthetic sensitivity, and financial viability.
As the founder of LITELAB India, he has led the firm on a wide range of prestigious projects across hospitality, commercial, and residential sectors. His notable work includes lighting design for Hyatt Centric, Reef Residence (Dubai), Al Baraka Bank (Bahrain), Coral Hotels & Resorts Cote Jardin (Sharjah), T.Pan St. Regis (Maldives), Hyatt Place (Kathmandu & Bangalore), DoubleTree by Hilton and Hyatt Centric (Bangalore), Hyatt Regency (Puri), GRT (Chennai), and Embassy Golf Links (Bangalore).
In the workplace sector, he has contributed to offices for Boeing (Chennai), GE_Vernova (Hyderabad), and major corporate environments for Indigo, Unilever, LinkedIn, Amadeus, and Bank of America in Bangalore. His work consistently blends technical precision with emotive lighting strategies, creating environments that are both functional and visually compelling.
