Rebecca Ho-Dion

Rebecca is a Principal and Lighting Design Director at ALULA Lighting Design / The HIDI Group, with over 20 years of experience in Toronto and New York City.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Architectural Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, combining a strong technical foundation with a deep passion for art and design.

This unique blend of skills allows her to bridge the gap between art and science, delivering lighting solutions that are both innovative and purposeful.

At ALULA, Rebecca leads a dedicated team of lighting designers who share her commitment to design excellence. Together, they approach each project as an opportunity to elevate spaces through light—working collaboratively and diligently to refine the craft of lighting design. The studio culture emphasizes creativity, technical precision, and a deep understanding of architectural intent.

Her international portfolio spans high-end retail, commercial, institutional, residential, hospitality, and healthcare projects. Notable work includes the Samsung Experience Store (Toronto), University College Library Revitalization (Toronto), Ryerson University Student Learning Centre*, Walt Disney Family Museum* (San Francisco), Gucci Fifth Avenue* (New York), and City Garden* (St. Louis). Her work has received multiple accolades, including the 2014 IES/IIDA Special Citation and Award of Merit for the Mariinsky Theatre* (St. Petersburg) and the 2007 IES/IIDA Award of Excellence for the Georgia Aquarium* (Atlanta). Rebecca also serves as the Canadian Region Coordinator for the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD).
