Philip Hammond, the visionary behind BHA School of Lighting and founder of BHA Lighting Design & Consulting, is an esteemed authority in lighting practices and LED technology, with a career spanning 48 years.

Philip’s educational journey began at Thorn EMI Lighting (South Africa) in 1976-77 and continued at London Southbank University (UK), shaping his expertise in illumination engineering. Beyond his projects, he regularly contributes to lighting and energy-related publications, sharing insights to advance industry knowledge. Philip is actively involved in the Illumination Engineering Society of South Africa, having served as Cape Town branch Chairman and in various committee roles, fostering growth and collaboration. His global network includes memberships in the Institution of Lighting Professionals (UK) and the International Association of Lighting Designers (USA), where he is recognized as a leader in lighting education.
