Rachel Fitzgerald
Rachel is a principal and discipline lead for Stantec’s global lighting practice, providing significant expertise to Stantec’s buildings and community developments globally. She’s passionate about mentoring junior staff to further best practices and is an in-demand speaker who shares knowledge and passion for lighting.
Rachel has a style that is fresh and unexpected as she works hand-in-hand with clients, owners, and her integrated services team to continually stay one step ahead of market trends and advancing lighting technologies. With over 20 years of experience developing innovative and thoughtful lighting design strategies, she is sought after as a speaker and writer internationally.
Rachel is a graduate of the University of Colorado’s lighting program, and an adjunct professor there, where she’s excited about fostering the next generation of lighting designers. Rachel’s drive to create a world where lighting plays a more impactful role manifests itself through her industry involvement. She is currently serving her second term on the Board of Directors of the IALD and is on the Board of the IALD Education Trust, she is involved with technical committees with the IES, and serves on the WELL light concept advisory for the IWBI.
Her talent and commitment to the design of highly sustainable and human-centric spaces has been recognized with more than three dozen design awards across project sectors spanning workplace, higher education, transportation, hospitality, civic, mixed-use, and multi-family sectors.
